According to Proteus Marine Renewables, the unit operated with an average availability of 95%<\/strong> during the first quarter of the year. This efficiency enabled it to supply clean energy to hundreds of British homes, consolidating tidal energy<\/a><\/strong> as a stable option within the United Kingdom’s renewable energy mix. <\/p>\n\n

Series 1 technology still in force<\/h2>\n\n

While the industry’s attention is focused on Series 2 developments, which will include the upcoming AR3000 turbines, the current Series 1 technology demonstrates unquestionable technical solidity. The AR1500<\/a><\/strong> , in operation since 2017, is a horizontal-axis turbine with full yaw control and variable-pitch blades, capable of generating up to 1.5 MW at flow speeds of three meters per second. <\/p>\n\n

This performance reaffirms the relevance of the infrastructure already deployed and highlights the system’s capacity for continuous evolution.<\/p>\n\n

Series 1 tidal turbine performance still in force<\/h2>\n\n

The operational success is attributed to the collaborative work of MeyGen, SAE, and Proteus Marine Renewables, which has demonstrated that tidal generation is viable on an industrial scale<\/strong> and can also compete in reliability with other renewable technologies<\/a><\/strong> . The collaboration between these entities has been key to maintaining and improving the equipment’s performance both offshore and in coastal maintenance operations. <\/p>\n\n

For its part, Proteus Marine Renewables is advancing new developments and recently secured a seat on the board of directors of Ocean Energy Europe, strengthening its role as a central player in the growth of the European marine energy sector.<\/p>\n\n
