The Quetzal, Crowley’s first Avance-class container ship powered by liquefied natural gas<\/a><\/strong> (LNG), has begun its commercial voyage between the United States, Central America, and the Caribbean. This vessel marks the beginning of an operational renewal in international maritime logistics. <\/p>\n\n

More capacity and fewer emissions on the Quetzal ship<\/h2>\n\n

Designed to operate with environmental efficiency, the Quetzal has a capacity of 1,400 TEUs and can carry up to 300 refrigerated containers<\/strong> . Thanks to its propulsion system based on high-pressure ME-GI<\/a><\/strong> engines developed by MAN Energy Solutions, methane emissions<\/a><\/strong> are minimized and energy efficiency is optimized, in line with current sustainability standards. <\/p>\n\n

This vessel is the first in a series of four sister ships<\/strong> built by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea. The vessels will operate under long-term charter contracts with Crowley, providing increased frequency on key trade routes such as Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, and other Caribbean destinations. <\/p>\n\n
