A new stage in liquefied natural gas ( LNG<\/em> ) logistics is consolidated after the approval in principle ( AiP<\/em> ) granted by the American Bureau of Shipping<\/strong> ( ABS<\/em> ) to the joint design of Tritec Marine<\/strong> and Bluesoul<\/strong> for the 20,000 m\u00b3 bunker vessel \u201cSafe Bunker\u201d.<\/p>\n\n

The project, developed by Northern Marine Group<\/strong> ‘s subsidiary, Tritec Marine<\/strong> , in collaboration with Shanghai Bluesoul Environmental Technology<\/strong> , is notable for introducing innovations aimed at the safety and operational efficiency of LNG refueling. The key lies in the incorporation of Bluesoul<\/strong> ‘s Type B tank, made of 5083-O aluminum alloy and covered with an oxide film that eliminates the need for coatings. <\/p>\n\n

This tank is 30% lighter than conventional stainless steel or nickel tanks, has splash-proof bulkheads<\/strong> , and can be easily adapted to different sizes. It’s also designed to transport LNG, ammonia, and even liquid hydrogen, making it a versatile component in alternative fuel logistics. <\/p>\n\n

The \u201c Safe Bunker<\/em> \u201d is designed with an offset accommodation unit that prevents vessel-to-vessel contact during refueling operations. It also incorporates dynamic positioning<\/strong> and virtual mooring<\/strong> systems that eliminate the need for fixed mooring lines, optimizing both safety and efficiency in busy ports like Shanghai and Singapore. <\/p>\n\n

ABS approval<\/strong> supports the viability and safety of the design, paving the way for future construction licenses. George Mermiris, director of Tritec Marine, mentioned that this model represents an efficient and cost-effective solution for marine bunkering, while Yongfeng Qu of Bluesoul highlighted the potential of the Type B tank<\/strong> as a safe and scalable system. <\/p>\n\n

The two companies collaborated in 2018 on the modernization of exhaust gas cleaning systems<\/strong> for tankers. Now, their LNG partnership reflects a strategic commitment to supply solutions compatible with the global increase in demand for alternative fuels. <\/p>\n\n

With an 80,000 m\u00b2 industrial base in Jingjiang, Bluesoul<\/strong> has the infrastructure to scale up production of B-type aluminum alloy tanks and hydrogen energy modules<\/a><\/strong> , while Tritec Marine is expanding its reach into small-scale LNG projects, such as the Energy Express<\/strong> in Korea.<\/p>\n\n
