JFE Steel<\/strong> announces the construction of a large-scale, high-efficiency electric arc furnace at its West Japan Works plant<\/strong> in Kurashiki. This furnace is part of the company’s broader effort to achieve carbon neutrality in the steel industry, aligning with Japan’s environmental goals. <\/p>\n\n

The new electric arc furnace achieves reduced emissions<\/h2>\n\n

This project was recently approved by the Japanese government<\/strong> and is partially funded by a state grant of up to 104.5 billion yen. Furthermore, this furnace will have an annual production capacity of two million tons of steel, and is just the beginning of a process of energy improvement that could change the way the steel industry operates globally. <\/p>\n\n

What sets this electric arc furnace apart is its ability to integrate advanced steelmaking technologies. JFE Steel<\/strong> , in its quest to reduce carbon emissions, is developing technological innovations, such as the use of hydrogen<\/a><\/strong> as a reducing agent in steelmaking. This process is currently being tested under the Japan Green Innovation Fund<\/strong> , with the goal of creating high-quality, low-carbon steel. <\/p>\n\n
