In a recent interview with Adam Stuchlik, Sales Director of High-Performance Coatings at Jotun, the Inspenet team learned about their contributions to asset protection, sustainability, and proactive maintenance solutions.<\/p>\n\n

Founded in Norway in 1926, Jotun has established a global presence, offering high-performance coatings in a variety of sectors, including marine, protective, decorative, and powder coatings. In the U.S., the company focuses primarily on marine and protective coatings, serving industries that operate in demanding environments.<\/p>\n\n

One of Jotun’s most notable products is Baltoflake<\/a><\/strong> , a coating that has stood the test of time in some of the world’s harshest environments. According to Stuchlik, Baltoflake has protected the Ecofisk platform in the North Sea for more than 40 years. When the platform was decommissioned, the company analyzed a sample of steel coated with Baltoflake and found it to be virtually intact, demonstrating the product’s unparalleled durability. <\/p>\n\n

Jotun is also at the forefront of innovative digital solutions that improve asset maintenance. Stuchlik discussed the company’s Hull Skating<\/em> technology, designed for proactive cleaning of maritime vessels, removing slime before it causes significant damage. Additionally, Jotun has launched AssetKeeper<\/em> , a digital inspection tool for the oil and gas sector that helps identify potential issues before they become serious, promoting both safety and operational efficiency. <\/p>\n\n

Sustainability is another key focus for Jotun, which dedicates significant resources to research and development not only to produce high-quality coatings, but also to ensure they exceed regional compliance standards. Stuchlik emphasized that sustainability is a core value for Jotun, and the company adapts its approach to the needs of the local market.<\/p>\n\n

In addition, Jotun’s durable coatings contribute to operating cost savings by reducing the need for frequent maintenance and repair work, which also reduces environmental impact. Adam explained that while low-VOC coatings play a role in sustainability, the real benefit lies in creating products that perform for decades, minimizing both operating costs and environmental footprint.<\/p>\n\n
