The high-voltage cable factory expansion project, which is preparing for NKT’s expansion in Karlskrona,<\/strong> has been declared Europe’s first net-zero emissions strategic initiative under the European Union’s Net-Zero Industry Act<\/strong> . This recognition places Sweden at the forefront of technology, setting a benchmark for energy independence on the continent. <\/p>\n\n

The first net-zero project with regulatory priority in the EU<\/h2>\n\n

After the expansion, the power plant will be the largest of its kind in the world, becoming an essential element in strengthening the clean energy transmission infrastructure through submarine HVDC cables<\/strong> . These cables connect offshore wind farms<\/strong> and other renewable sources with onshore demand centers. <\/p>\n\n

NKT’s expansion in Karlskrona<\/h2>\n\n

Since the installation of the first HVDC cable to Gotland<\/strong> , Sweden has maintained a leading position in advanced electrification. Swedish Minister of Energy, Enterprise and Industry Ebba Busch emphasized that this expansion confirms the country’s strategic role in promoting clean and resilient technologies. <\/p>\n\n

With the growing need for electrification in Europe, the NKT plant will play a key role in the integration of renewable sources<\/strong> and ensuring the security of electricity supply.
