The event took place at <strong>APM Terminals Maasvlakte II<\/strong> , Maersk&#8217;s flagship terminal in Europe, and was attended by Stephanie Pullings Hart, Executive Vice President and COO of <strong>Nestl\u00e9<\/strong> , who was named godmother of the new vessel. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The container ship Adrian Maersk<\/h2>\n\n<p>The <em>Adrian M\u00e6rsk<\/em> has a capacity of over 16,000 TEU and will operate on the Asia-Mediterranean trade route. It is also equipped to <strong>use methanol as fuel<\/strong> , which reduces greenhouse gas emissions by between 65% and 90%, depending on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/biofuel-distribution-for-service-stations\/\" data-type=\"articulo\" data-id=\"163236\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">composition of the biofuel<\/a><\/strong> used. Furthermore, the addition of this type of vessel is aligned with Maersk&#8217;s core goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Nestl\u00e9<\/strong> , a strategic customer of <strong>Maersk<\/strong> , transports all of its ocean freight under the <strong>ECO Delivery Ocean program<\/strong> , which uses alternative fuels to reduce the global carbon footprint. This collaboration allows for a reduction of emissions associated with freight transport and future supply routes by more than 80%. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/alexandra-maersk-the-new-methanol-ship\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"194905\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maersk<\/a><\/strong> points out that the technology is available, and the challenge now lies in establishing transparent regulations at the international level. The upcoming meeting of the <strong>International Maritime Organization<\/strong> ( <em>IMO<\/em> ) will be crucial in defining the regulatory framework that will accelerate the use of clean fuels on a global scale. <\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong>Adrian Maersk<\/strong> will be part of <strong>Maersk&#8217;s new East-West network<\/strong> , designed to offer schedule reliability exceeding 90%.
