Collahuasi’s C20+ project has had a significant impact on the economy of the Tarapac\u00e1 region. Since its launch in 2022, the construction of the desalination plant has boosted local employment<\/strong> , strengthened port infrastructure, and boosted the region’s logistics chain. <\/p>\n\n

This desalination plant, which has a capacity of 1,050 liters per second, is key to Collahuasi’s mining operations<\/a><\/strong> , allowing for optimized water use.<\/p>\n\n

One of the greatest contributions of this project has been job creation. More than 2,500 people from the region were hired<\/strong> in various phases of construction. In addition, training programs have been implemented in technical areas such as welding<\/a><\/strong> , electricity, and plumbing, allowing more than 800 workers from Tarapac\u00e1 to acquire new skills and integrate into the mining labor market. <\/p>\n\n

Impact of the desalination plant on education and employment<\/h2>\n\n

Technical training is also a priority for Collahuasi, which has promoted educational programs in high schools in Alto Hospicio and Pica, co-managed by the Collahuasi Foundation. This has allowed young people in the region to access jobs in the mining industry, contributing to the area’s economic and social development. <\/p>\n\n

The project has generated significant investment in the region, reaching more than US$230 million in contracts for local goods and services, which has boosted sectors such as hospitality and transportation.<\/p>\n\n

Collahuasi has demonstrated a strong commitment to the sustainable development<\/a><\/strong> of Tarapac\u00e1. Through the C20+ Project<\/a><\/strong> , it has managed to create a productive chain that not only benefits the company but also strengthens the regional economy, improving the quality of life of the communities near its mining operations. <\/p>\n\n
