This facility will become one of the largest renewable methanol plants in Europe, with an annual production capacity of 140,000 tons of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/first-sov-propelled-with-e-methanol\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"161497\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">e-methanol<\/a><\/strong> . <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How will the new methanol plant work?<\/h2>\n\n<p>The project, led by the Spanish company <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/la-robla-green_vallesdelhidraejgeno-castillayleaejn-transiciaejnjusta-activity-7298701804710612993-EOjs?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop&amp;rcm=ACoAABwDBTAB4GohX6ZtDU9YmG5cMdgez-p4kwY\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reolum<\/a><\/strong> , which specializes in innovative solutions for the energy transition, will combine <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/empire-diversified-energy-promotes-renewable-hydrogen-project-in-partnership-with-arch2\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"211038\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">renewable hydrogen<\/a><\/strong> and biogenic carbon from a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/biomass-energy-plant-in-japan\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"176214\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">biomass<\/a><\/strong> cogeneration plant to produce green methanol. This e-methanol will be a key component in the decarbonization of sectors such as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/integration-renewable-energies-shipping\/\" data-type=\"articulo\" data-id=\"202174\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">maritime transport<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/hydrogen-liquid-aviation-project\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"156651\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">aviation<\/a><\/strong> , being used both as a direct fuel and as a feedstock for sustainable fuels such as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/enilive-starts-saf-production-in-gela-for-sustainable-aviation\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"223688\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SAF<\/a><\/strong> (Sustainable Aviation Fuel). <\/p>\n\n<p>It&#8217;s important to mention that Siemens Energy, T\u00e9cnicas Reunidas, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and Johnson Matthey will contribute their technological capabilities in several areas. Siemens Energy will lead the development of the renewable hydrogen unit, while T\u00e9cnicas Reunidas will be responsible for the biogenic carbon capture and e-methanol production units. <\/p>\n\n<p>Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. will license the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/capture-opens-new-direct-co2-capture-pilot-plant-in-hawaii\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"228871\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><sub>CO2<\/sub> capture<\/a><\/strong> technology, while Johnson Matthey will provide its proprietary technology, known as eMERALD\u2122, which enables the direct hydrogenation of captured CO2 into methanol.<\/p>\n\n<p>This project is also part of <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tecnicasreunidas.es\/es\/tecnicas-reunidas-presenta-track-su-propuesta-para-la-transicion-energetica-y-la-descarbonizacion-de-la-industria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Track<\/a><\/strong><\/em> , <strong>T\u00e9cnicas Reunidas<\/strong> &#8216; decarbonization strategy, which aims to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.
