This innovative initiative, in collaboration with professional surfer Josh Kerr and his brand Draft Surf, seeks to transform industrial waste into high-performance, sustainable products. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Turning wind turbines into surfboards<\/h2>\n\n<p>The project is part of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acciona.com.au\/surfboard\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.acciona.com.au\/surfboard\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Turbine Made<\/a><\/strong> , a pioneering initiative in Australia to recycle materials from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/wind-turbines-moray-west-installed-april\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"140542\">retired wind turbines<\/a><\/strong> . <strong>Ten prototype surfboards have been produced<\/strong> from a dismantled blade from the Waubra wind farm in Victoria.   <\/p>\n\n<p>Hand-assembled on the Gold Coast, these models feature blade strips on the deck <strong>for improved strength and flex control<\/strong> . At its core, our brand is about delivering the best surfing experience with quality products in a sustainable way, which is in line with ACCIONA&#8217;s vision for Turbine Made. <\/p>\n<cite>Josh Kerr said, highlighting the importance of the project.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Innovation for the circular economy<\/h2>\n\n<p>Reusing <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/transform-blades-wind-turbines-gangwalks\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"99371\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wind turbine blades<\/a><\/strong> is a growing challenge. Thousands of these structures will be decommissioned in the coming years, requiring efficient recycling strategies. <\/p>\n\n<p>ACCIONA has already demonstrated its capacity for reuse in other sectors, including the production of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acciona-energia.com\/es\/zapatillas-el-ganso-acciona\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.acciona-energia.com\/es\/zapatillas-el-ganso-acciona\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">El Ganso branded sneakers<\/a><\/strong> and the incorporation of recycled materials into components of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/banking-march-finance-40-solar-plants\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"134106\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">solar plants in Spain<\/a><\/strong> .<\/p>\n\n<p>Mariola Domenech, ACCIONA Energy&#8217;s Global Director of Sustainability, said they are seeking to rethink how materials can have a second life, and that this is a clear example of how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An industry in evolution<\/h2>\n\n<p>Surfing, a sport linked to respect for the environment, faces the challenge of reducing its ecological impact. Initiatives such as those of ACCIONA and Draft Surf show that it is possible to develop sports equipment without compromising the planet.
