The company Petrobras<\/strong> has signed a purchase and sale agreement <\/em>Liquefied Natural Gas<\/strong> ( LNG<\/em> ) with the British company Centrica<\/strong> . This contract establishes a duration of 15 years, and contemplates the acquisition of 0.8 million tons per year ( mtpa<\/em> ), under a fundamental strategy of the company to reduce its exposure to the spot market<\/em> and guarantee the stability of the gas supply in Brazil. <\/p>\n\n

A strategic LNG supply agreement<\/h2>\n\n

The contract provides for supply to come from Centrica’s portfolio, including the Sabine Pass liquefaction plants<\/strong> and the Delfin LNG project<\/strong> , the latter subject to a final investment decision by Delfin Midstream.<\/p>\n\n

According to Maur\u00edcio Tolmasquim, director of Energy Transition and Sustainability at Petrobras, this agreement is in line with the company’s priorities of minimizing price volatility and strengthening its competitiveness in the sector. He also believes that diversification of supply contributes to the country’s energy transition. <\/p>\n\n

For his part, Chris O’Shea, CEO of Centrica, stressed that this contract demonstrates the company’s ability to build long-term partnerships. He also emphasized that the agreement benefits Petrobras, and strengthens Centrica’s strategy to manage risks and expand its presence in the LNG market. <\/p>\n\n

Petrobras<\/a><\/strong> ‘ long-term LNG purchase is an essential measure to avoid price fluctuations and improve the country’s energy planning, ensuring a stable supply.<\/p>\n\n

The Centrica deal is also part of a global trend of securing long-term gas contracts in a context of energy uncertainty. Some companies, such as Petrobras, are seeking strategies to ensure a reliable and competitive supply for their domestic market. <\/p>\n\n
