Swedish ferry company Stena Line has taken a new step in its sustainability strategy with the successful launch of Stena Connecta<\/em> , the second hybrid ferry<\/a><\/strong> in its NewMax fleet. Designed to operate on methanol as its primary fuel, this vessel will contribute to reducing emissions and improving efficiency on the Belfast-Heysham route in the Irish Sea. <\/p>\n\n

About the new hybrid ferry Stena Connecta<\/h2>\n\n

The Stena Connecta<\/em> stands out for integrating technologies that optimize energy consumption. In addition to the use of methanol<\/a><\/strong> , it will be equipped with battery propulsion and shore power, provided these options are available in ports. An innovative aspect of the vessel is the incorporation of rotor sails, which take advantage of wind energy<\/a><\/strong> to provide auxiliary propulsion and reduce fuel consumption. <\/p>\n\n

Together with her sister ship Stena Futura<\/em> , Stena Connecta<\/em> will enable a 40% increase in cargo capacity<\/strong> on the Northern Ireland-Great Britain connection. This responds to growing customer demand and reinforces Stena Line<\/a><\/strong> \u2019s position as a key operator in maritime trade in the region. <\/p>\n\n
