On February 15, 2025, Petrobras started production from the Almirante Tamandar\u00e9 FPSO<\/a> (B\u00fazios 7)<\/strong> , a floating production and storage unit (FPSO) that marks a new achievement in the company’s extraction capacity in Brazil. <\/p>\n\n

With a processing capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil per day and 12 million cubic meters of natural gas<\/a><\/strong> , this high-capacity platform is connected to 15 subsea wells<\/strong> . Seven of these are oil producers, six are water and gas injectors, and one is convertible between producer and injector. <\/p>\n\n

B\u00fazios 7: a leap in Petrobras’ production capacity<\/h2>\n\n

B\u00fazios 7 represents the first FPSO of this magnitude to be installed in the B\u00fazios field<\/a><\/strong> , which is located in one of the most productive areas of the Brazilian pre-salt. The B\u00fazios field is known for its significant light oil reserves<\/a><\/strong> and is projected to become Petrobras\u2019 largest producing field in the coming years<\/strong> . Production is estimated to reach one million barrels per day by mid-2025, and could exceed 1.5 million barrels per day by 2030. <\/p>\n\n

In addition to its impressive production capacity, B\u00fazios 7 also features advanced decarbonisation technologies, such as closed flare, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions<\/a><\/strong> . Heat recovery technologies are also included, which optimise the unit\u2019s energy efficiency. <\/p>\n\n

Collaboration between Petrobras and its strategic partners<\/h2>\n\n

The platform was chartered to SBM Offshore<\/a><\/strong> and is part of the sixth production system in B\u00fazios. The consortium operating in this area includes Petrobras, CNOOC, CNODC and PPSA<\/strong> , who work together to maximize the production and efficiency of the field. <\/p>\n\n

This advance in production at the B\u00fazios Field<\/a><\/strong> underlines the growing importance of the pre-salt region for Petrobras, which has managed to position itself as a leader in Brazil’s energy industry. With this new unit in operation, the company is taking a significant step towards its goal of maintaining its leadership in oil production<\/a><\/strong> in the country. <\/p>\n\n
