{"id":229559,"date":"2025-02-14T14:39:44","date_gmt":"2025-02-14T18:39:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/austal-wins-contract-to-build-a-high-speed-hydrogen-ferry\/"},"modified":"2025-02-14T15:12:40","modified_gmt":"2025-02-14T19:12:40","slug":"austal-wins-contract-to-build-a-high-speed-hydrogen-ferry","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/austal-wins-contract-to-build-a-high-speed-hydrogen-ferry\/","title":{"rendered":"Austal wins contract to build a high-speed hydrogen ferry"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Austal Australasia<\/strong> has been awarded a major A$270 million contract to design and build a 130-metre-long, <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/high-speed-ferry-operating-with-hydrogen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">high-speed <strong>hydrogen-<\/strong> powered ferry<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Building a hydrogen ferry<\/h2>\n\n<p>This new ferry will be one of the largest vessels built by the company, notable for its combined cycle propulsion system that includes gas and steam turbines. The project was called <strong>Horizon X<\/strong> , and is being developed in collaboration with <strong>Gotlandsbolaget<\/strong> of Sweden, a company committed to sustainability and the transition towards decarbonisation. <\/p>\n\n<p>This <em>multi-fuel catamaran<\/em> will have the capacity to carry up to 1,500 passengers, cargo and 400 vehicles. Construction will begin in the first half of 2026 at the <strong>Austal shipyard<\/strong> in the Philippines, and is expected to be ready for delivery in 2028.
