TotalEnergies<\/strong> has signed a long-term agreement with Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited<\/strong> ( GSPC<\/em> ) for the supply of 400,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas ( LNG<\/em> ) per year from 2026. The contract was announced at India Energy Week<\/strong> in New Delhi and will last for ten years. <\/p>\n\n

An LNG supply from India<\/h2>\n\n

The LNG supplied by TotalEnergies<\/strong> will be sourced from its global portfolio and delivered to terminals on India’s west coast. The LNG will be destined for GSPC’s industrial customers, as well as communities, businesses and service stations that use compressed natural gas<\/strong> ( CNG<\/em> ) for vehicles such as auto-rickshaws. <\/p>\n\n

The Indian government has emphasized the importance of natural gas<\/strong> as an essential source for reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality. As a cleaner alternative for industry, transportation and domestic use, LNG is a key part of the country’s strategy to diversify its energy mix and reduce dependence on coal. <\/p>\n\n

TotalEnergies<\/strong> , the world’s third-largest LNG player, is seeking to increase the share of gas in its energy portfolio to 50% by 2030. The company has reinforced its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and eliminating methane leaks<\/a> throughout the gas value chain. <\/p>\n\n

This agreement marks an important step towards strengthening GSPC\u2019s strategy to secure long-term competitive LNG, helping to overcome the growing supply and demand deficit of natural gas in Gujarat and across India.
