This development is located on the maritime border between Mauritania and Senegal, for the exploitation of energy resources in West Africa. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim Project<\/h2>\n\n<p>On December 31, 2024, gas started flowing from the wells to the floating production, storage and offloading unit ( <em>FPSO<\/em> ). At this stage, the gas undergoes a purification process to remove condensate, water and impurities before being sent to the <strong>floating LNG liquefaction plant<\/strong> ( <em>FLNG<\/em> ), where it is finally converted into liquefied gas for export. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Kosmos Energy<\/strong> has confirmed that the <strong>first shipment of LNG<\/strong> is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025, with BP Gas Marketing as the initial offtaker. The company has highlighted the strategic importance of the GTA project for global energy supply and the regional economy. <\/p>\n\n<p>Kosmos Energy President and CEO Andrew G. Inglis said the impact of this development is the start of LNG production in the GTA, at a key moment for the energy industry and for the countries involved. It is estimated that they can optimize production and complete the first export in the coming months. <\/p>\n\n<p>The GTA project is a large-scale initiative that seeks to consolidate Mauritania and Senegal as players in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/mexico-is-positioned-in-the-global-lng-market-3-new-liquefaction-plants-under-construction\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/mexico-gnl-3-nuevas-plantas-de-licuefaccion\/\">global LNG market<\/a><\/strong> .
