The Prysmian Group has officially added the Monna Lisa<\/em> to its fleet, a cable-laying vessel<\/strong> designed to strengthen its operational capacity in the renewable energy<\/a><\/strong> sector. With this addition, the Italian company reaffirms its leadership in submarine cable<\/a><\/strong> infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n

Monna Lisa: a cable-laying vessel with ecological improvements<\/h2>\n\n

The Monna Lisa<\/em> , built by the Norwegian group VARD, is the sister ship of the Leonardo da Vinci<\/a><\/strong><\/em> , presented in 2022. With a length of 171 metres, this vessel has been developed to offer the same capacity and performance as its predecessor, but with ecological improvements that reduce its environmental impact. <\/p>\n\n

Among its most notable features is an energy storage system<\/a><\/strong> with double the battery capacity and the possibility of connecting to land to operate with clean energy while in port.<\/p>\n\n

According to the Offshore Energy<\/a><\/strong> portal, the keel-laying ceremony was held in Romania in April 2023 to begin construction, which lasted around 24 months.<\/p>\n\n
