This new component of the Deep Space Network (DSN) is located at the Goldstone Space Communications Complex in California and is set to begin operations in 2026. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A key piece for space exploration<\/h2>\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/directorates\/somd\/space-communications-navigation-program\/what-is-the-deep-space-network\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/directorates\/somd\/space-communications-navigation-program\/what-is-the-deep-space-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Deep Space Network<\/strong><\/a> is the antenna system that enables communication with spacecraft on interplanetary missions. With the addition of DSS-23, NASA will improve tracking and data transmission for more than 100 missions, including the International Space Station and the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/nasa-and-sansa-carry-out-antenna-installation\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"195625\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Artemis program<\/a><\/strong> , which seeks to establish a sustainable human presence on the Moon. <\/p>\n\n<p>DSS-23 is the fifth of six beam waveguide antennas to be added to the network. These antennas enable the reception and transmission of high-precision radio signals, which are essential for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/china-new-plan-to-colonize-the-solar-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"99171\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">solar system<\/a><\/strong> exploration and long-range mission control. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strategic benefits for future missions<\/h2>\n\n<p>The increased capacity of the DSS-23 is essential for communication with increasingly complex and distant missions. With increasing lunar exploration and the future arrival of manned missions to Mars, DSS-23 will ensure efficient transmission of scientific data, operational orders and real-time assistance to astronauts. <\/p>\n\n<p>In addition, this new antenna will facilitate the reception of information from satellites in distant orbits and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/china-einstein-probe-search-for-signals\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/china-sonda-einstein-probe-busca-de-senales\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">exploratory probes<\/a><\/strong> investigating the confines of the solar system.
