This innovative expedition module, designed for a crew of three, is the precursor to <strong>Sentinel<\/strong> , a larger system that will be operational by 2027. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vanguard paves the way for limitless ocean exploration<\/h2>\n\n<p>Vanguard will be deployed this year and will enable real-world testing of key <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/pleobot-ocean-exploration-robots-krill\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"98770\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ocean exploration<\/a><\/strong> technologies. Source: DEEP <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>According to Kristen Tertoole, DEEP&#8217;s CEO, this habitat will provide essential operational experience for the construction and optimization of Sentinel, the company&#8217;s most ambitious project, ensuring that it is a crucial step towards making human presence under the ocean possible on a permanent basis.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technology and habitat design<\/h2>\n\n<p>DEEP habitats integrate advanced technology to improve the safety and efficiency of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/video-tv\/120-dias-bajo-el-agua-record-mundial-panama\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"video-tv\" data-id=\"224658\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">underwater missions<\/a><\/strong> . Features include: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>3D manufacturing with WAAM<\/strong> : allows you to create resistant structures with less material, optimizing their performance in high-pressure environments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Modular design<\/strong> : facilitates adaptation of habitats to diverse scientific and operational needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Panoramic windows<\/strong> : improve visibility and promote continuous observation of the marine ecosystem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Currently, the DEEP team is working with a full-scale wooden prototype of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deep.com\/sentinel\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sentinel<\/a><\/strong> to test space configurations and functionality before final manufacturing. Scientists such as Ed O&#8217;Brien, from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, highlight the importance of these habitats for the advancement of scientific diving and the connection with the marine environment. <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>DEEP&#8217;s three-person habitat represents a paradigm shift for scientific diving operations.<\/p>\n<cite>O&#8217;Brien notes.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>Timmy Gambin, a maritime archaeologist at the University of Malta, highlights the impact that Vanguard will have on underwater archaeology. The extended immersion time will allow for more detailed excavations at hard-to-reach sites. <\/p>\n\n<p>The development of Vanguard and Sentinel opens the door to a new era in underwater exploration and habitability.
