DEME has secured two essential contracts for the transport and installation of 112 foundations for the Nordlicht 1 and 2 offshore wind farms<\/strong> , located in the North Sea<\/a><\/strong> , 85 km from Borkum. In addition, the company will take care of erosion protection at both facilities, strengthening its position in the offshore renewable energy<\/a><\/strong> sector. <\/p>\n\n

About the Nordlicht 1 and 2 offshore wind farms<\/h2>\n\n

The Nordlicht 1 and 2 wind farms, developed by Vattenfall in collaboration with BASF, will have a combined capacity of 1,610 MW<\/strong> . Their power generation<\/a><\/strong> is estimated to benefit 1.7 million households and German industry. <\/p>\n\n

While the contract is subject to a final investment decision, the signing of the agreement marks a key step in the construction of these facilities.<\/p>\n\n

Foundation installation will begin in 2026 with 68 structures at Nordlicht 1, followed by 44 at Nordlicht 2 in 2027. To carry out the operation, DEME will use its flagship Orion<\/strong> , an offshore installation vessel equipped with a 5,000-tonne crane<\/a><\/strong> and advanced motion compensation technology, allowing it to work effectively even in adverse conditions. <\/p>\n\n
