SpaceX has taken a crucial step toward universal connectivity<\/a><\/strong> with its Starlink Direct to Cell (DTC) service<\/strong> , an innovative technology that promises to end cellular coverage \u201cdead zones.\u201d Starlink DTC uses low-orbit satellites to deliver LTE signal directly from space, without the need for additional ground infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n

Each satellite is equipped with eNodeB modems, similar to traditional cell towers, allowing users to access messaging, data and even video calling services from their regular phones. All of this operates on standard LTE\/4G frequencies, as used by partner carriers including T-Mobile and Entel. <\/p>\n\n

Starlink DTC is currently in beta after receiving authorization from the US FCC<\/a><\/strong> . During this period, SpaceX will evaluate the technology’s performance, preparing for its global deployment. This advancement benefits remote areas, industrial, maritime and agricultural sectors, which have traditionally lacked efficient connectivity options. <\/p>\n\n

Advantages over the competition<\/h2>\n\n

Operating at an altitude of 550 km, SpaceX\u2019s satellite network<\/a><\/strong> offers significantly lower latency than geostationary systems, which orbit at 36,000 km. In addition, SpaceX\u2019s ability to launch up to three batches of satellites weekly<\/strong> strengthens its position against competitors such as Amazon\u2019s Project Kuiper or Sateliot in Spain, which are still developing their satellite connectivity solutions. <\/p>\n\n

With nearly 7,000 satellites in low orbit<\/a><\/strong> , Starlink represents more than 80% of active satellites in space, consolidating SpaceX as a leader in the sector.<\/p>\n\n
