Tests at the <strong>Engine Research and Innovation Centre<\/strong> ( <em>ERIC<\/em> ) in Winterthur have confirmed that parameters such as combustion efficiency, emissions and fuel consumption meet expectations.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The development and advancement of the X-DF-A engine<\/h2>\n\n<p>This single-cylinder engine has been optimized for the validation of its combustion system under real operating conditions, allowing multi-cylinder tests to be carried out in Shanghai, China.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe X-DF-A single-cylinder concept is performing well, with combustion efficiency, emissions and fuel consumption within our expectations. This milestone is a testament to our rigorous and unique approach to innovation and the fantastic work of our development team and partners.\u201d<\/p>\n<cite>Sebastian Hensel, Vice President of Research and Development at WinGD.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/wingd-introduces-lpg-preset-option\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"205137\">Development of the X-DF-A<\/a><\/strong> began in 2019, with investment in research into unique injection systems and combustion chambers that optimise the use of ammonia as a fuel. In addition, WinGD has worked closely with classification societies and shipyards to ensure the engine design meets the highest safety standards. <\/p>\n\n<p>Furthermore, the test systems included experiments with methanol-fuelled engines, allowing engineers to analyse the mechanical and thermal behaviour of components under extreme conditions. This ensures that the technology is ready for the challenges of modern maritime operation. <\/p>\n\n<p>With final validation scheduled for 2025, the company has orders for nearly 30 X-DF-A engines.
