The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announces the launch of the first gigawatt-scale project integrating solar photovoltaic energy and battery storage with 24-hour uninterrupted operation. This project, located in Abu Dhabi, will improve the management of clean energy, ensuring constant and reliable availability. <\/p>\n\n
The announcement was made in the presence of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and was led by Masdar<\/a><\/strong> and Emirates Water and Electricity Company<\/strong> ( EWEC<\/em> ). According to Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of Masdar, this system responds to the historical challenge of intermittency in renewable energy generation. <\/p>\n\n With an installed capacity of 5.2 GW of solar power<\/strong> and a storage system of 19 GWh, the project can deliver up to 1 GW of baseload power daily. This makes it the largest combined system of its kind in the world, setting a global standard in renewable technology. <\/p>\n\n In addition to its contribution to energy supply, the project will create more than 10,000 jobs, demonstrating the potential of the energy transition to drive economic development.
