The keel laying ceremony took place in November at the <strong>Dalian Shipbuilding &amp; Offshore Company (DSOC)<\/strong> shipyard in China and development progress continues. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The first LCO2 tanker<\/h2>\n\n<p>This tanker was designed under IMO Type 2PG\/3G standards and will feature independent C-type cylindrical tanks to transport refrigerated liquefied gases. It will also be fueled by liquefied natural gas and complemented by rotor sails and air lubrication systems. <\/p>\n\n<p>The shipping project is part of a collaboration with <strong>Northern Lights<\/strong> , a joint effort by <strong>Shell, <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/totalenergies-new-contracts-from-gnl-asia\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"161339\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TotalEnergies<\/a> and Equinor<\/strong> , to develop the world\u2019s first cross-border CO2 transport and storage infrastructure. The system will connect customers in Europe to the permanent storage terminal in Norway, reinforcing global efforts to combat climate change. <\/p>\n\n<p>The construction of the vessel is under the supervision of <strong>Schulte Marine Concept<\/strong> <em>(SMC)<\/em> , while <strong>Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement<\/strong> <em>(BSM)<\/em> will manage the subsequent operations.
