Line 2 of the Lima and Callao Metro, the first underground transport system in Peru<\/strong> , continues to make progress. In an event celebrated by authorities and experts, the tunnel boring machine ‘Delia’ successfully completed the drilling of the section that connects the Bolognesi Station<\/em> with the Parque Murillo Station<\/em> , adding 502 meters of tunnel to this railway infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n

The Delia tunnel boring machine and progress in monumental works<\/h2>\n\n

The work of ‘Delia’ required the placement of 2,072 concrete segments to form 296 rings, each weighing 40 tons. The machine advanced at an average of 14 meters per day, confirming its efficiency in tunnel construction in densely urbanized areas such as Bre\u00f1a. This achievement marks the closing of Stage 1B and the beginning of Stage 2 in the Peruvian capital. <\/p>\n\n

Line 2 will connect the districts of Ate, Santa Anita, Bre\u00f1a, Callao and others, reducing travel time to just 45 minutes for an end-to-end trip. In addition, the system has mobilized more than 12 million passengers since its partial operation began in 2023. <\/p>\n\n

The tunnel boring machine ‘Micaela’ is also working on the Callao section, adding 4 additional kilometres to the project. Both machines represent the commitment to modernise public transport<\/a><\/strong> , guaranteeing a solution for the high demand for mobility in Lima and Callao. <\/p>\n\n

With these advances, the Lima Metro continues to promote solutions to connect communities and improve the quality of life of its inhabitants. The next stages promise to further expand the reach of this underground network, consolidating it as an emblematic project for Peru. <\/p>\n\n
