RTX<\/strong> ‘s leading aeronautical division, Pratt & Whitney,<\/strong> has received Federal Aviation Administration<\/strong> ( FAA<\/em> ) certification for the GTF engine, which has been designed to power the Airbus A321XLR<\/strong> aircraft. This achievement was obtained on December 12, and validates the PW1100G-JM engine as a “fundamental piece” of this new generation aircraft. <\/p>\n\n

GTF engine receives FAA certification<\/h2>\n\n

The A321XLR aircraft<\/strong> is recognized for its extended range and enhanced payload capacity, an important benchmark in the single-aisle aircraft market. According to Rick Deurloo, President of Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, this certification opens up new opportunities for global airlines, offering more flexible routes and more distant destinations. <\/p>\n\n

GTF engines are known for their fuel efficiency<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 up to 20% better than previous models \u2013 which has enabled operators to save more than 2 billion gallons of fuel and reduce 20 million metric tons of CO\u2082 since 2016. <\/p>\n\n

Pratt & Whitney<\/strong> is also moving forward with the development of the GTF Advantage engine<\/strong> , an improved version that promises greater thrust, 1% more fuel efficiency and improved operating times. This engine is compatible with current models, which will allow for further expansion of available routes and optimisation of the operating economy of airlines. <\/p>\n\n
