This experiment, which will take place in the second half of 2025, aims to demonstrate how the microgravity environment of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.inspenet.com\/Space-X-desorbitara-la-Estacion-Espacial-Internacional.webp\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"167494\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">International Space Station<\/a><\/strong> (ISS) affects the sake fermentation process. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What will sake brewing be like in space?<\/h2>\n\n<p>The process will begin with key ingredients such as <em>Yamada Nishiki<\/em> rice, koji mold, yeast, and water being sent to the Japanese Kibo module of the ISS. Once in space, these elements will undergo controlled fermentation under <strong>microgravity<\/strong> <strong>conditions<\/strong> \u2013 a significant technical challenge due to the disruptions to biological processes that normally occur on Earth. Source: Asahi Shuzo <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>This experiment is not only a technological achievement; it is also a step towards the future of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/japan-launched-space-probe-lunar-exploration\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"98633\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">space exploration<\/a><\/strong> . According to the Asahi Shuzo release, the company has plans to <strong>use lunar water<\/strong> <strong>and rice grown on the Moon<\/strong> to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.asahishuzo.ne.jp\/en\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">brew sake<\/a><\/strong> in future lunar colonies. The fermentation process in space could open the door to new methods of food and beverage production, which is key for future long-duration <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/video-tv\/robots-son-controlados-con-un-avatar\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"video-tv\" data-id=\"127746\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">space missions<\/a><\/strong> .  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An exclusive sake for charity<\/h2>\n\n<p>The resulting bottle of this space-based production, called <strong>\u201cDassai MOON \u2013 Space Brew\u201d<\/strong> , will be a collector\u2019s item. With just 100 ml of product, <strong>its price has been set at one hundred million yen (653,000 dollars)<\/strong> . What is more interesting is that Asahi Shuzo has decided to donate all the profits from this sale to support the development of future space research and projects, a gesture that reinforces the company\u2019s commitment to the progress of space technology.  <\/p>\n\n<p>This project is a collaboration between <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/mhi-initiates-hydrogen-project\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"137696\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mitsubishi Heavy Industries<\/a><\/strong> and the <strong>Aichi Institute of Industrial Technology<\/strong> , as well as support from the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/nasa-and-jaxa-japanese-lunar-vehicle-agreement\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"146133\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency<\/a><\/strong> (JAXA).
