Equinor and its partners have made a new oil and gas discovery in the North Sea<\/a><\/strong> , just 17 kilometres west of the well-known Troll field. The discovery, provisionally named Ringand<\/em> , contains between 2 and 12 million barrels of oil equivalent<\/strong> , according to preliminary estimates. <\/p>\n\n

A modest oil and gas discovery with strategic potential<\/h2>\n\n

Although the size of the discovery is relatively small, with estimated volumes between 0.3 and 2 million standard cubic metres, Equinor sees strategic value in the area. The company plans to combine this reserve with other nearby discoveries to optimise the existing infrastructure and ensure the economic viability of its exploitation. <\/p>\n\n

It is a small discovery, but in an interesting area that we plan to explore further. Deepsea Atlantic platform leads drilling<\/h2>\n\n

The well was successfully drilled by Odfjell Drilling\u2019s semi-submersible drilling rig Deepsea Atlantic<\/a><\/strong> , owned and operated by the company. This new find adds to a series of recent exploration successes in the North Sea, highlighting the region\u2019s potential for future energy developments. <\/p>\n\n

The area around the Troll field<\/a><\/strong> remains a strategic point of interest for hydrocarbon exploration<\/a><\/strong> on the Norwegian continental shelf. With the existing infrastructure in place, Equinor and its partners will be able to evaluate new development opportunities that maximise resources and reduce operating costs. <\/p>\n\n
