The Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP<\/a><\/strong>) commends the bipartisan Congressional imminent passage of the Fiscal Year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and the House and Senate Committees’ commitment to advancing materials protection across the defense industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The legislation, expected to receive final approval in the coming weeks, includes a significant increase in funding authorization for the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of Corrosion Policy and Oversight (CPO). Funding has been increased to $7.1 million, a roughly $4.5 million boost over the levels initially proposed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis funding increase underscores Congress\u2019 recognition of the critical role that corrosion prevention plays in maintaining the safety, readiness, and longevity of defense assets,\u201d said Kern Williams, AMPP Manager of Government Relations. \u201cThis is not just an investment in infrastructure; it\u2019s an investment in national security.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n AMPP has partnered with the DoD\u2019s CPO for more than two decades to advance its mission of reducing lifecycle costs, improving equipment availability, enhancing safety, and extending critical defense systems and infrastructure longevity. Corrosion impacts every aspect of the defense lifecycle, from operational environments to aging equipment and facilities. The increased funding will expand CPO\u2019s capacity to address these challenges effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 1,800+ page NDAA, released over the weekend, includes wide-ranging provisions and funding opportunities relevant to AMPP members engaged in the DoD supply chain.
