Bell Textron Inc. has completed wind tunnel testing to validate the transition capability of its Stop\/Fold rotor systems<\/strong> . These tests, conducted at the National Institute of Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State University, support the development of the DARPA SPRINT program<\/a><\/strong> , which aims to transform military aviation and advanced air mobility platforms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Critical testing of the Stop\/Fold rotor in the wind tunnel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bell\u2019s Stop\/Fold rotor system, which combines jet-like quickness with vertical takeoff and landing<\/a><\/strong> capability, has been rigorously tested to ensure stability and control during transitions between folded and deployed rotor modes. These tests, which follow a series of successful evaluations at the Holloman High-Speed Test Track (HHSTT) in 2023<\/strong> , confirm the system is ready to advance toward a flight demonstration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This capability is vital to conducting Agile Combat Airlift (ACE) missions in regions with limited runways or contested battlespaces, such as the Indo-Pacific area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to their use in military aviation, these advanced technologies also have potential applications in special operations, where speed and range are essential to mission success. Bell continues to lead in aeronautics technology<\/a><\/strong> , delivering transformative air mobility solutions that could change the way armed forces execute their most challenging missions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
