The Sirius-2 well, located in the <strong>GUA-OFF-0 offshore block<\/strong> 77 kilometers from Santa Marta, has revealed gas volumes that could double Colombia&#8217;s current reserves. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The discovery of the Sirius-2 well by Petrobras and Ecopetrol<\/h2>\n\n<p>The <strong>Sirius-2 well<\/strong> was drilled at a depth of 830 meters underwater and spudding began on June 19, 2024. The initial evaluation has confirmed volumes exceeding 6 trillion cubic feet of gas in place ( <em>VGIP<\/em> ), which translates to a 200% increase in the country&#8217;s proven reserves. This discovery is historic for the Colombian energy industry.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The consortium operating in this project is formed by <strong>Petrobras Internacional Braspetro BV<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Sucursal Colombia<\/strong> ( <em>PIB-COL<\/em> ) and <strong>Ecopetrol<\/strong> , with stakes of 44.44% and 55.56%, respectively.<\/p>\n\n<p>The two companies will invest more than $4.1 billion in the exploration and <strong>production development<\/strong> <strong>phases<\/strong> .
