Source: Madrid City Council <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Europe&#8217;s first hydrogen bus station<\/h2>\n\n<p>The hydrogen station, which <strong>allows buses to be recharged in just nine minutes<\/strong> , is part of Madrid City Council&#8217;s ambitious plan to <strong>decarbonise the city&#8217;s public transport<\/strong> . The mayor highlighted the importance of this unique infrastructure in Europe, stressing that <strong>by 2030 all buses in the EMT fleet will be zero emissions<\/strong> . This project is part of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.madrid360.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Madrid 360 strategy<\/a><\/strong> , which aims to make the capital a benchmark in sustainability and energy efficiency.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The new facility is responsible for recharging the buses and handles the entire hydrogen cycle: production, compression, storage and distribution. The plant produces <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/ingeteam-and-bp-hydrogen-green-project\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"186815\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>green hydrogen<\/strong><\/a> from a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/direct-electrolysis-of-sea-water-china\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"168077\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">water electrolysis<\/a><\/strong> process, using solar energy from <strong>2,780 photovoltaic panels<\/strong> installed at the centre. <\/p>\n\n<p>This system generates a maximum power of <strong>1.6 MWh<\/strong> , contributing to cleaner and more efficient mobility.<\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong>total investment in the project amounts<\/strong> <strong>to 11.3 million euros<\/strong> , of which 2.65 million come from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). In addition, the project has been developed with national technology, which reinforces the commitment to local innovation and the green economy. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ten hydrogen buses for a clean fleet<\/h2>\n\n<p>In this first phase, ten hydrogen buses are joining the EMT Madrid fleet. These buses, manufactured by CaetanoBus of Portugal, have a <strong>range of 280 kilometres<\/strong> , allowing them <strong>to operate for 20 hours without needing to be recharged<\/strong> . Each unit has a hydrogen storage system that gives it the ability to operate with a range suitable for the city&#8217;s urban routes.  <\/p>\n\n<p>This project is just one of the first steps towards a public transport model based on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/video-tv\/sabias-que-energias-limpias-recubrimientos-y-los-incendios\/\" data-type=\"video-tv\" data-id=\"42900\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">clean and sustainable energy<\/a><\/strong> .
