This project represents a fundamental step towards consolidating the city as one of the most important industrial centres in the field of offshore wind energy in the North Sea region. Once completed, the expanded terminal will be vital for the handling of heavy components used in the construction of offshore wind farms.

Expansion of wind farm in Germany

The project, which will be developed in collaboration with Depenbrock and TAGU, includes the expansion of the existing terminal, adding up to five berths and a 1,250-metre quay for heavy loads . In addition, a 38-hectare storage area will be created, facilitating the storage and logistics of the components used in offshore wind farms .

The construction of the new terminal improves the infrastructure of the Port of Cuxhaven and will significantly contribute to Germany’s ability to meet its ambitious expansion targets for offshore wind power, one of the country’s main sources of renewable energy.

As part of the expansion, DEME, together with its partners, will carry out complex dredging and land reclamation works. It is estimated that more than 3 million cubic metres of material will be recovered in the process , using advanced technology such as trailing suction dredgers and specialised barges. These works will help to establish a solid foundation for the new terminal, which must withstand heavy loads and meet demanding geotechnical conditions.

Commitment to sustainability and innovation

DEME Area Manager for Germany Lutz Dröge emphasises that the construction of this terminal requires an innovative technical approach, especially when working in a dynamic estuarine environment. The project also complies with strict environmental requirements, contributing to the company’s efforts to ensure sustainability in all its projects.

With a long history in the Port of Cuxhaven, DEME has already been responsible for the construction of several nearby berths and has used this port as a base for previous projects, such as the construction of the Borkum Riffgrund 2 wind farm . This new contract further consolidates DEME’s presence in the region, demonstrating its ability to carry out large-scale projects in the offshore sector .

Follow us on social networks and don’t miss any of our publications!

YouTube LinkedIn Facebook Instagram X TikTok

Source and photo: DEME Group

DEME strengthens its position in offshore energy with the construction of a new offshore wind terminal in the port of Cuxhaven.

[13026,13044

post-210840","noticias","type-noticias","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","categoria_noticias-energy","categoria_noticias-new-energies
["GET
