The Jeonnam 1 offshore wind project<\/strong> , located off the coast of Shin-an, has delivered its first power generation, marking a historic moment for South Korea. With an installed capacity of 96 MW<\/strong> , it is not only the country\u2019s first commercial offshore wind farm, but also represents a step forward in the transition to energy sustainability. <\/p>\n\n

Developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), together with SK Innovation E&S and Copenhagen Offshore Partners, Jeonnam 1 began construction in 2023. Turbine installation<\/a><\/strong> was completed in September 2024 and full commercial operation is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025<\/strong> . <\/p>\n\n

Jeonnam 1 will generate electricity for 60,000 homes<\/h2>\n\n

When fully operational, Jeonnam Offshore Wind 1<\/strong> will supply green electricity to 60,000 households<\/strong> , strengthening the country\u2019s wind capacity, which aims to reach 14.3 GW installed capacity by 2030. This development is critical to South Korea achieving its goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, a target that demands massive investments in renewable energy. <\/p>\n\n

CIP has been a key player in the South Korean market since 2018, developing a project pipeline totaling approximately 5.0 GW. This effort accelerates the energy transition and fosters a robust industrial ecosystem, increasing the participation of local players in the supply chain<\/a><\/strong> . <\/p>\n\n
