DG Fuels<\/strong> is making Moorhead, Minnesota, the epicenter of aviation sustainability by announcing the installation of a SAF plant<\/strong> valued at approximately $5 billion, with the goal of promoting more environmentally friendly flight routes.<\/p>\n\n

The new facility will produce 193 million gallons of SAF annually, using agricultural and wood waste as the primary feedstock. With this production capacity, the plant could supply nearly half of the fuel required annually by Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport<\/strong> ( MSP<\/em> ). <\/p>\n\n

” This exciting announcement shows how the creation of a new SAF economy in Minnesota will provide opportunities that extend from the MSP Airport runway to the state’s rural communities<\/em> ,” said Peter Frosch, President and CEO of GREATER MSP Partnership<\/strong> . Frosch also stressed that this project is important for meeting global climate goals and improving the region’s economic competitiveness. <\/p>\n\n

The Minnesota SAF Hub<\/strong> , a coalition that includes Bank of America<\/strong> , Delta Air Lines, Ecolab<\/strong> , Xcel Energy<\/strong> , and other prominent entities, has been instrumental in attracting investments like that from DG Fuels<\/em> . The statewide collaboration, coupled with Minnesota\u2019s advanced infrastructure such as its rail networks and clean electricity, has created an ideal environment for commercial-scale production of sustainable fuels. <\/p>\n\n

Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson highlighted the city’s commitment to sustainable development: “Moorhead is a vibrant and growing community. With the largest shovel-ready industrial site in Minnesota, we are poised to compete on the national stage for this economic opportunity. <\/em>“.<\/p>\n\n

The plant announcement is part of a broader strategy by the Minnesota SAF Hub<\/em> to lead the decarbonization of air travel. The hub recently launched a \u201c Demand Consortium<\/em> ,\u201d which aims to secure the initial purchase of millions of gallons of SAF by the end of 2025. Additionally, the state of Minnesota has implemented targeted incentives, such as SAF tax credits, that facilitate and encourage these strategic investments. <\/p>\n\n

For its part, DG Fuels is committed to overcoming traditional industry barriers through innovative technologies that ensure efficient and environmentally responsible production. The collaboration with GREATER MSP Partnership<\/strong> and the state government seeks to reduce market risks and ensure that Minnesota remains a leader in sustainability. <\/p>\n\n

With this project, Minnesota seeks to meet the growing demand for SAF<\/a><\/strong> at MSP Airport, but also to inspire other states and nations to take concrete steps in the transition to a greener and more sustainable economy.<\/p>\n\n
