Atlantic Copper and Alter Enersun have formalized a strategic agreement for the construction of a 30 MWp solar plant<\/strong> , which will be self-consumed. This project, which will be developed near the port of Huelva, aims to cover part of the energy demand of the Atlantic Copper metallurgical plant, through electricity generated by 100% renewable solar energy<\/a><\/strong> . <\/p>\n\n

Atlantic reduces emissions with solar energy<\/h2>\n\n

The agreement, with an investment of 16 million euros<\/strong> , will allow Atlantic Copper to advance its commitment to decarbonisation and energy efficiency, by reducing its carbon emissions and dependence on conventional energy sources. The photovoltaic solar plant<\/a><\/strong> is estimated to have an annual production of 53 GWh<\/strong> , which will represent a substantial improvement in the sustainability of industrial operations. <\/p>\n\n

Javier Targhetta, CEO of Atlantic Copper, highlighted that this project is part of a series of initiatives that will allow the company to achieve 82% of its energy consumption<\/strong> from renewable sources. <\/p>\n\n

These types of agreements not only allow us to reduce our carbon footprint, but also protect us against price volatility in the electricity market. <\/p>\nTarghetta said.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n

30 MWp solar plant to reduce industrial emissions<\/h2>\n\n

Alter Enersun will strengthen its role as a key player in the renewable energy sector<\/a><\/strong> . The company, with more than 15 years of experience in the development of photovoltaic projects, will be responsible for the construction and operation of the plant. <\/p>\n\n

Our goal is to support the industry in its transition to clean, low-cost energy, aligning with the sustainability goals of our partners.<\/p>\nJos\u00e9 Luis Morlanes, CEO of Alter Enersun, commented, highlighting the importance of this agreement<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n

The project will also contribute to reducing electricity transport losses<\/a><\/strong> by establishing a self-consumption regime and avoiding the use of the conventional grid for energy distribution.<\/p>\n\n

The agreement between Atlantic Copper and Alter Enersun is one of the most important industrial self-consumption developments in Spain.
