Vulcan Energy<\/strong> officially opens its central lithium electrolysis optimization plant<\/strong> ( CLEOP<\/em> ) in Frankfurt’s H\u00f6chst Industrial Park<\/strong> . The event, attended by political and business leaders, underlines the company’s commitment to the sustainable production of lithium hydroxide for the European automotive industry. <\/p>\n\n

Lithium hydroxide optimization plant<\/h2>\n\n

The lithium hydroxide<\/strong> produced at the plant is derived from high-purity geothermal brine, an innovative method that Vulcan Energy<\/em> implements at its extraction plant<\/strong> in Landau. This fossil-free process is positioned as the cleanest globally, reducing the carbon footprint and promoting Europe’s energy independence. <\/p>\n\n

\u201cToday marks a significant milestone in our mission to supply green lithium to Europe. The C<\/a> LEOP<\/a> plant<\/a><\/strong> will enable operational processes to be optimised and teams to be trained for large-scale production. In the first phase of the Lionheart project<\/strong> , Vulcan will produce 24,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide per year, enough to power 500,000 electric vehicles. The event highlighted international support, with the participation of Australia’s ambassador to Germany, Natasha Smith, who praised the collaboration between the two countries in favour of a sustainable future. <\/p>\n\n

The plant has been awarded the highest rating, \u201c Dark Green<\/em> \u201d, by S&P Global Ratings<\/strong> , reflecting the environmental excellence of its operations. Vulcan Energy<\/em> continues to consolidate its position as a leader in sustainable lithium solutions, working closely with the automotive industry to ensure a safe and clean supply.<\/p>\n\n
