Under the guidance of Chief Test Pilot Tristan \u201cGeppetto\u201d Brandenburg, the XB-1 flew for 55 minutes, reaching a top speed of Mach 0.82, or 499 knots true airspeed. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">XB-1 Test Program<\/h2>\n\n<p>Since the XB-1\u2019s historic first flight on March 22, 2024, the test program has progressed steadily. The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/the-xb-1-completes-its-second-test-flight\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/el-xb-1-completa-su-segundo-vuelo-de-prueba\/\">second flight<\/a><\/strong> took place on August 26, followed by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/the-boom-xb-1-complete-third-flight-test\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/el-boom-xb-1-completo-tercer-vuelo-de-prueba\/\">third flight<\/a><\/strong> on September 13. The fourth flight on September 21 and the fifth flight on October 7 <strong>helped validate the aircraft\u2019s stability and control capabilities<\/strong> . Source: Boom Supersonic<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advanced technology and altitude testing<\/h2>\n\n<p>On this seventh flight, <strong>the team increased the aircraft\u2019s operating altitude to 23,015 feet<\/strong> and also performed a vital cabin pressurization test. This evaluation confirmed the safety of the maximum pressure differential, an essential factor for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/hypersonic-airplane-ta-1-from-stratolaunch\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"138134\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">high-altitude flights<\/a><\/strong> that will keep the pilot protected. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Tests of the flutter excitation system (FES) were conducted at speeds of Mach 0.7, 0.75 and 0.8<\/strong> . These tests were critical to ensuring safe and predictable handling, even when approaching transonic speeds. <\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/boomsupersonic.com\/xb-1\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/boomsupersonic.com\/xb-1\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">XB-1<\/a><\/strong> program, which lays the foundation for the development of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/boomsupersonic.com\/overture\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/boomsupersonic.com\/overture\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Overture supersonic commercial airliner<\/a><\/strong> , utilizes advanced technology such as digital aerodynamics and carbon fiber composites.
