This achievement was reached on Tuesday, October 29, when the MIRA II flight demonstrator performed the first successful test over the Baltic Sea, taking off from Peenem\u00fcnde Airport. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The first in-flight ignition of the AS-1F aerospike engine<\/h2>\n\n<p>The AS-1F aerospike engine, powered by LOX\/kerosene and designed to generate a thrust of 1 kN, operated for 3 seconds with a reduced propellant load. This precaution made it possible to maintain a limited chamber pressure and ensure the safety of the operation. Despite these restrictions, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.polaris-raumflugzeuge.de\/Technology\/Demonstrators\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.polaris-raumflugzeuge.de\/Technology\/Demonstrators\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MIR<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polaris-raumflugzeuge.de\/Technology\/Demonstrators\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.polaris-raumflugzeuge.de\/Technology\/Demonstrators\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polaris-raumflugzeuge.de\/Technology\/Demonstrators\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.polaris-raumflugzeuge.de\/Technology\/Demonstrators\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">II<\/a> vehicle achieved an acceleration of 4 m\/s\u00b2, equivalent to 900 N of thrust<\/strong> , while ascending accurately.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Moreover, the test programme progressed remarkably quickly: from the first turbine-powered flights on 25\u201327 October, to the integration of the aerospike system on the 28th. On the evening of 29 October, following a successful engine balance test, MIRA II took off and became the first vehicle to fire an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.polaris-raumflugzeuge.de\/Technology\/Aerospike-Engines\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.polaris-raumflugzeuge.de\/Technology\/Aerospike-Engines\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">aerospike engine<\/a><\/strong> in flight. <\/p>\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/embed\/feed\/update\/urn:li:ugcPost:7260213292676124673?compact=1\" height=\"399\" width=\"710\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" title=\"Integrated publication\"><\/iframe>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">First flight of an aerospike engine.
