Technology company Baker Hughes<\/strong> has announced the award of major contracts with Petrobras<\/strong> to supply 77 km of flexible pipeline systems<\/strong> in Brazil’s pre-salt fields. These contracts were signed on October 15, 2024, and the agreement was finalized following an open tender, consolidating and extending the strategic relationship between the two companies. <\/p>\n\n

Obtaining contracts in flexible piping systems<\/h2>\n\n

The project includes the delivery of risers<\/em> and flowlines<\/em> required for hydrocarbon production<\/strong> such as gas and water injection. These systems are designed to withstand the extreme conditions of the B\u00fazios<\/em> , Libra<\/em> , Berbig\u00e3o<\/em> , Sururu<\/em> and S\u00e9pia<\/em> fields, with challenges such as high CO\u2082 concentration. Baker Hughes has developed solutions that address the problem of CO\u2082 -induced stress corrosion cracking<\/a><\/strong> ( SCC-CO\u2082<\/em> ), ensuring safe and efficient operations. <\/p>\n\n

Petrobras has made controlling CO\u2082 emissions a priority, and Baker Hughes technology<\/a><\/strong> is critical to this goal. By re-injecting CO\u2082 into wells, rather than releasing it into the atmosphere, Petrobras minimizes its carbon footprint, maximizing oil recovery.The Santos Basin has great potential for Latin America’s energy future. The flexible piping systems will be manufactured at Baker Hughes\u2019 plant<\/strong> in Niter\u00f3i, Brazil, as a key player in the country\u2019s energy supply chain. This commitment to local production strengthens Brazil\u2019s energy infrastructure, creating employment opportunities while supporting the region\u2019s economic development. <\/p>\n\n

Baker Hughes<\/strong> and Petrobras<\/strong> have worked on several projects throughout 2024, including additional contracts for 69.1 km of pipeline systems and well construction services in the B\u00fazios field.
