Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPENG has taken a new step in automation and artificial intelligence with the unveiling of its first humanoid robot Iron<\/strong> . The robot is 1.72 meters tall, weighs 70 kg, has movement capabilities that mimic the human body<\/a><\/strong> thanks to its 60 joints and 200 degrees of freedom, and was shown during XPENG’s AI Technology Day. <\/p>\n\n

The humanoid robot is now operational on the production lines at XPENG\u2019s factory, assisting in the assembly of its upcoming electric vehicle, the P7+<\/a><\/strong> . Using the same AI technology that powers the company\u2019s self-driving vehicles, Iron is able to navigate autonomously, simulate human postures such as standing, sitting, or even lying down<\/strong> , and perform manual tasks with precision. Iron\u2019s hands, with 15 degrees of freedom, can manipulate objects, providing a level of dexterity crucial for complex industrial tasks. <\/p>\n\n

XPENG’s Eagle Vision system and Turing 40-core AI chip give Iron exceptional reasoning capabilities<\/strong> , enabling it to quickly adapt to a variety of scenarios. XPENG<\/a><\/strong> stressed that this innovation is not a simple prototype, but an active tool that improves manufacturing efficiency and precision.<\/p>\n\n

XPENG isn\u2019t content to keep Iron<\/a><\/strong> in industrial settings. The company has ambitious plans for the robot, with plans to deploy it in offices, retail stores and even homes. Its interaction capabilities via the Tianji AIOS system and agility allow it to perform activities such as manipulating objects, responding to voice commands and moving around in different environments. <\/p>\n\n
