Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) has officially started construction of the first of three low-emission RoRo vessels<\/a><\/strong> to be leased to Airbus<\/a><\/strong> . The steel cutting ceremony took place on 24 October at the CSSC shipyard in Wuchang, China, with representatives from LDA, the shipyard and Bureau Veritas in attendance. <\/p>\n\n

About the new RoRo vessels<\/h2>\n\n

These 167-metre vessels are designed to reduce the environmental impact of transporting aircraft components for Airbus. Equipped with advanced technology, such as six rotary sails from Norsepower<\/a><\/strong> , dual methanol engines from Wartsila and a waste heat conversion system, the vessels reflect both companies\u2019 commitment to sustainability. <\/p>\n\n

LDA and Airbus expect these innovations to significantly reduce emissions on each voyage. The ships are scheduled to enter service in 2026<\/strong> , marking a major step forward in the shipping industry towards cleaner transport solutions.<\/p>\n\n
