The project, known as <em><strong>the Hydrogen Advanced Design Engine Study<\/strong><\/em> ( <em>HyADES<\/em> ), aims to demonstrate the feasibility of a hydrogen-fueled PW127XT regional turboprop engine. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pratt &amp; Whitney and the INSAT program<\/h2>\n\n<p>In partnership with <strong>Next Hydrogen Solutions<\/strong> , efficient, low-cost electrolyzers will be developed to create the necessary <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/company-introduction-hydrogen-aircraft\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hydrogen production<\/a><\/strong> infrastructure. Edward Hoskin, Vice President of Engineering at <em>Pratt &amp; Whitney Canada<\/em> , stressed that this project will enable progress towards the use of alternative, low-carbon fuels in regional aviation, while maintaining the high efficiency of the PW127XT engine. <\/p>\n\n<p>The first phase will focus on rigorous testing of fuel nozzles and combustion platforms using hydrogen. Future test phases will then include ground-based engines.
