RWE has received all necessary permits from the Danish Energy Agency to move forward with the construction of its innovative Thor offshore wind farm<\/strong> , located approximately 22 km off the west coast of Jutland. The project, which is set to be Denmark\u2019s largest offshore wind farm<\/strong> , will have a capacity of over one gigawatt and is set to supply renewable energy<\/a><\/strong> to more than one million Danish households. <\/p>\n\n

RWE opts for Thor wind farm with recyclable blades<\/h2>\n\n

From spring 2025, RWE will begin offshore work, preceded by seabed preparation at the beginning of the year. The company highlights the incorporation of green and sustainable technology in Thor, including recyclable rotor blades and steel towers with lower CO2 emissions. Thomas Michel, COO of RWE Offshore Wind, underlined: “We are building Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm<\/a><\/strong> to date. But we are also leading the way in sustainable technology.” <\/p>\n\n

By 2026, RWE plans to install 72 SG 14-236 DD wind turbines<\/a><\/strong> , half equipped with low-emission steel towers and the other with recyclable blades, all managed from the Port of Esbjerg and with the Port of Thorsminde as its base of operations. The project will generate clean energy and boost the local economy, creating 50 to 60 jobs in the region. <\/p>\n\n

Thor<\/a><\/strong> is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.<\/strong> This development adds to RWE\u2019s growing presence in offshore wind<\/a><\/strong> , establishing itself as a global leader with projects in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands. RWE expects to triple its global offshore wind capacity to 10 GW by 2030, reaffirming its commitment to the energy transition in Europe. <\/p>\n\n
