Scottish company HonuWorx has revealed ambitious plans to launch a fleet of Loggerhead submarines<\/strong>, marking a breakthrough in the underwater robotics industry<\/a><\/strong>. These autonomous submarines are designed to transform the deployment and maintenance of underwater vehicles by eliminating traditionally fossil-fuel-powered surface vessels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This innovative system significantly reduces emissions, with the potential to save the equivalent of the emissions of 4,000 gasoline-powered vehicles<\/strong> for every surface ship displaced. In addition, the all-electric Loggerhead submersibles allow operation from any location in the world via a cloud connection, expanding their applications for inspection, maintenance and repair in sectors such as oil, gas and wind energy<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loggerhead submarines will be a success in sustainability<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The firm, which recently completed trials off the Canadian coast in collaboration with Cellula Robotics and companies including TotalEnergies<\/a><\/strong> and Shell, has successfully demonstrated the deployment of an ROV<\/a><\/strong> (remotely operated vehicle) from an autonomous submarine. This feat underlines the viability and environmental impact of the Loggerhead system, the first commercial unit of which is expected in 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a $3.2 billion market for subsea services<\/a><\/strong>, HonuWorx is positioning itself as a pioneer in robotics for the blue economy<\/strong>, seeking to capture 20% of the global market in the next decade. In addition, the company plans to triple its team and secure \u00a330 million in investment funding in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the energy transition in full swing, HonuWorx<\/a><\/strong> CEO Lee Wilson says their technology will transform underwater work<\/strong>, offering a clean and safe alternative for an industry with growing demands for sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
