In addition, the mine is Australia\u2019s second largest <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/dartbrook-carbon-production-then-18-yrs\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/dartbrook-produccion-de-carbon-luego-18-anos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">copper producer<\/a> , and the only mine in the country that produces molybdenum, a mineral essential to Australian industry. <\/p>\n\n<p>This achievement underpins Newmont\u2019s commitment to rigorous standards in sustainability, human rights and governance. Suzy Retallack, the company\u2019s chief safety and sustainability officer, said: \u201c <em>Meeting the growing demand for copper involves a responsibility to sustainable mining that prioritizes the development of the communities where we operate<\/em> .\u201d <\/p>\n\n<p>Since 2020, Cadia has signed a 15-year renewable energy purchase agreement, covering 55% of its needs with wind energy.
