The Government of Canada<\/strong> has awarded up to CAD$22.5 million (approximately US$16.2 million) to EverWind Fuels<\/strong> , a Halifax-based company and a leader in the production of green fuels in North America.<\/p>\n\n

Canadian support for green ammonia project<\/h2>\n\n

This funding is part of the Green Maritime Corridors Program<\/strong> and will support the development of the infrastructure needed to supply green ammonia as a maritime fuel, furthering Canada\u2019s commitment to reducing emissions in the maritime transportation sector.<\/p>\n\n

The funding will enable EverWind Fuels<\/a><\/strong> to build a dedicated loading extension<\/a><\/strong> to supply ships with green ammonia and a pipeline to transport this fuel from the production facility in Point Tupper to the shipping terminal.<\/p>\n\n

Additionally, three tugboats will be acquired and improvements will be made to the dock to facilitate safe and efficient loading and unloading of vessels. The Point Tupper terminal<\/a><\/strong> is located on the Atlantic coast and is one of the deepest and ice-free ports in North America, a major advantage for the growth of sustainable fuel exports. <\/p>\n\n

EverWind Fuels Certification<\/h2>\n\n

EverWind Fuels<\/em> is positioned as a key benchmark in the production of certified green hydrogen and ammonia under the strict standards of the European Renewable Energy Directive II<\/strong> ( RED II<\/em> ), which requires ” a reduction of at least 70% in the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions<\/em> ” compared to equivalent fossil fuels.<\/p>\n\n

To achieve this, the company will leverage renewable energy supplied by Nova Scotia Power<\/strong> , primarily from new wind farms, supplemented by energy from additional sustainable sources such as tidal, wave, solar and small hydro projects.<\/p>\n\n
