In a partnership that will have a major impact on the clean energy industry<\/a><\/strong> in the United States, RIC Energy and the California firm Cadiz Inc. have announced the development of a hydrogen plant in California<\/strong> , possibly the largest. This project will take place at Cadiz Ranch, a large area located in the Mojave Desert. <\/p>\n\n

With this plant, the companies seek to produce large volumes of green hydrogen using solar energy<\/a><\/strong> and use local infrastructure of rail, pipelines and roads to distribute it in Southern California, serving sectors such as freight transportation and electricity generation.<\/p>\n\n

Susan Kennedy, CEO of Cadiz Inc., highlighted the strategic location of Cadiz Ranch, which has abundant land and water to support this large-scale operation. This green hydrogen project will benefit from a combination of state-of-the-art technologies and on-site renewable energy, meeting the most stringent Inflation Reduction Act<\/a><\/strong> (IRA) standards.<\/p>\n\n

The company expects that, upon reaching full capacity, the plant will generate up to 50 tons of green hydrogen per day<\/strong> , equivalent to 120 megawatts (MW), thus supplying the growing demand for clean fuels in the region.<\/p>\n\n

New alternative to grey hydrogen and new jobs<\/h2>\n\n

The plant will also contribute to California\u2019s clean energy transition goals by offering viable alternatives to the use of gray hydrogen<\/a><\/strong> in local industries. Additionally, the Cadiz Ranch site allows for energy storage options and the transportation of green hydrogen via pipeline. <\/p>\n\n

This project, supported by the ARCHES initiative<\/a><\/strong> and part of the Regional Clean Hydrogen Centers, will generate thousands of jobs in the state, and is expected to boost the local economy through investments and savings in public health, aligning with the goals of carbon neutrality by 2035.<\/p>\n\n

This green hydrogen plant<\/a><\/strong> will supply the region and also position California well in the US clean energy production, reinforcing its role in the global movement towards a more sustainable planet.<\/p>\n\n
