At the American Society for Nondestructive Testing<\/strong> ( ASNT) 2024<\/em> Annual Conference, global inspection services provider Intertek<\/strong> is showcasing its latest advancements in confined space inspection technology and related services.<\/p>\n\n

During an interview with Ricardo Mosqueda, Metrology Lead<\/em> at Intertek<\/em> , the innovations that the company is promoting at the event were highlighted, focusing on the incorporation of specialized drones in industrial inspections.<\/p>\n\n

Headquartered in London and employing approximately 48,000 people worldwide, Intertek remains at the forefront of technology ranging from Non-Destructive Testing<\/a><\/strong> ( NDT<\/em> ) services to 3D Scanning<\/strong> and Dimensional Control<\/strong> .<\/p>\n\n

Mosqueda also explained that at ASNT 2024<\/strong> they are exhibiting their latest development in confined space inspections using drones<\/strong> . These drones are equipped with a protective structure that allows them to operate in high-risk collision locations, such as tanks and closed structures. <\/p>\n\n

Furthermore, an innovative feature of the presented drone is the integration of an ultrasound module<\/strong> ( UT<\/em> ) that allows for taking spot thickness readings on critical surfaces. This system uses a gel as a coupling, which guarantees solid contact between the ultrasound probe and the inspected surface, eliminating air barriers and ensuring accurate measurement. According to Mosqueda, the drone can take between 5 and 10 readings in a single flight<\/strong> , depending on the location of the measurement points within the tank, with a flight time that varies between 6 and 12 minutes. <\/p>\n\n

Mosqueda stressed the importance of staying up to date with the latest technologies available<\/strong> in the energy sector, highlighting the continuous evolution of tools and solutions for industrial inspection. \u201c It is important to be at the forefront and aware of the innovations that arise in the market<\/em> ,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n
