It has also been compared to its diesel counterpart, with the only notable difference being its much quieter operation. In addition, the EVOLT produces no emissions, aligning with Tadano’s global decarbonisation goals.

The crane is equipped with six lithium-ion batteries that provide a capacity of 226 kWh. This energy allows it to operate for five hours in lifting and moving activities, or up to seven hours if it is only used for lifting loads. The battery can be recharged in approximately two hours using a fast charging system.

On the other hand, the EVOLT will have a higher initial cost than a diesel crane, but Tadano says the operational savings will offset this increase. Operating costs are estimated to be reduced by 35% thanks to electrical efficiency and lower maintenance requirements. In addition, the reduction in carbon emissions is considerable, eliminating up to 49,000 pounds of CO₂ per year.

The Tadano GR-1000XLL EVOLT electric crane.
